Who would have thought that Microsoft was dabbling in fashion technology? No one. But here’s the thing, two of Microsoft’s researchers won Best Concept and Best in Show this past June at the 15th annual International Symposium on Wearable Computers (ISWC) in San Francisco.

Microsoft and Google are at it again, this time fighting over a major government contract. Previously, Google lost a contract to implement its email system across 88,000 employees for the U.S. Department of Interior. Things are heating up as the two giants duke it out for this high profile contract.

HP has confirmed it is looking into the idea of using Google’s Android system for its products, likely in netbooks. Such a move would be a major blow to Microsoft, particularly given its claims that Windows 7 works fine on such machines.

Dell, Intel and their various partners have all announced initiatives and new technologies aimed at eliminating and/or reducing the need for an OS all together. The secret, according to these companies, lies in mobility technology, and apparently cutting out Microsoft all together.

Touch screen technology on CE devices up till recently have been a mere novelty with nobody taking the technology seriously; that was until the iPhone was released. The iPhone put touch screen technology in the forefront and brought mainstream acceptance as a method of navigating a graphical user interface.

Ok, ok, we can all laugh and joke about some of the rather humorous ends eBay has gone to in the interest of protecting its customers, but there’s a real chance that the latest caper moves from lighthearted humor to rather arguable controversy. Ebay has removed a laptop that contains an attack code used to crack Vista in the interesting of its buyers’ “safety.”

The Asus EeePC ships with Linux but with the help of an external DVD drive, it’s possible to install almost any OS of your choice, even Leopard with a bit of hacking but that comes with some legal issues that are discussed in that post.

The Everex XT5000T is the first laptop you should consider if you are on a budget and are looking for a desktop replacement laptop but don’t want to break the bank. You don’t get the most powerful hardware, or long battery life but what you do get more than makes up for the shortcomings.
