The Metro design language is well established. It was first used for the brilliant UI of the ZuneHD and has been in use globally with Windows Phone 7 for almost two years now. It seems strange and unlikely that someone might suddenly have a problem with it now. Even if they do, it will only affect Germany because there are dozens of “Metro”s around the world, most notably the Paris Metro, and no-one is going to mistake a retail store for a design language in a million years. If MS really are trying to move away from the word, it is because it doesn’t belong exclusively to Windows and they probably want to put more focus on the product, rather than the design language that has influenced the way it looks.
