Microsoft entices disgruntled webOS devs to switch to Windows Phone The HP TouchPad is enjoying significant demand after the company dropped the price of the device to $99.99. With HP discontinuing the unit, there is a growing concern from the webOS development community.

Microsoft is looking to take advantage of the situation as Brandon Watson, a Windows Phone evangelist for Microsoft, offered free support to webOS devs looking to switch platforms.

Watson tweeted:

To Any Published WebOS Devs: We’ll give you what you need to be successful on #WindowsPhone, incl.free phones, dev tools, and training, etc.,

The response has been overwhelming as Watson revealed that he received over 500 emails regarding his offer and over 1,000 responses to his tweet. Support for Windows Phone 7 from the development community has been lacking since launch. With the demise of the TouchPad, Microsoft may be able to bring over some of the webOS developers to work on Windows Phone 7.
