Morro, Microsoft’s new free antivirus software is on its way sometime in the second half of 2009, but some screen shots of it in action have already leaked. They may not exactly be awe-inspiring but they do at least prove the existence of Microsoft Morro.
Microsoft is suing three people for click fraud: repeatedly clicking on adverts simply to waste the advertiser’s money. The case, aimed at a relatively small-scale operation, appears to be both a warning and a test of the law.
The iPhone is a brilliant piece of equipment. It’s the one Apple product that I, as an Apple hater, would love to own. And there are clearly some Microsoft employees who feel the same way. Google recently rolled out its new search engine. Named Bing, which many people are inferring stands for ‘But It’s Not Google’, it’s Microsoft’s best effort in the online search sector yet, although that really isn’t saying too much. So what does Google, the market leader, think of Bing? Not much by the sounds of it.
Microsoft could find itself in the embarrassing position of funding Macs for schools. It’s paying around $80 million in compensation to schools in Wisconsin which can be spent on technology – and not just Microsoft products.
The Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) began today in San Francisco. This annual Apple love-in sees Steve Jobs and co. make their high-profile announcements about new hardware and software. Most of us couldn’t give two hoots, but the Apple fanboys lap it up every single year. But this year saw my ears pricked by one of the tactics used during a keynote speech – some good old-fashioned Microsoft bashing.
