The European Commission has extended the deadline for Microsoft to answer charges that its bundling of Internet Explorer breaks competition laws. The extension comes after Microsoft asked for more time to consider its position.

The latest version of Windows 7 to leak from Microsoft appears to be a pretty decent example of what the finished edition will be like. It includes several changes from the beta edition which will be the bulk of performance and feature tweaks.

Microsoft never did get its hands on Yahoo!, despite trying for what felt like half of last year. It’s a shame because I always felt Microhoo was a great name for a company. But while an acquisition is now completely off the table, a partnership is most certainly not.

We’re finally on the home stretch to the release of Windows 7, Microsoft’s new operating system which it hopes will put the nightmare that was Vista behind it. However, Vista, and Microsoft’s business practices involved in getting the OS universally adopted, still has the ability to come back and haunt the company.

Blu-ray is a format on the move, gaining support on all sides - slowly but surely. But don’t expect Microsoft to be one of those climbing on board the bandwagon. Windows 7 is confirmed as not having native Blu-ray support, with a third-party media suite being required for Blu-ray playback. Cheapskates.
