No more fumbling with connection settings in Windows Vista / XP
Avanquest connection management software for Windows has dropped its $29.95 price tag to be offered free-O-charge to frustrated Windows users that are tired of struggling with connection settings every time they move locations or connection type.
Normally, every time you switch locations, be it a coffee house, airport, etc. you have to manually open the connection settings, choose the network, tweak the settings, and so on. For Windows users that are constantly on the go, it can become a real pain. Avanquest takes care of all that nonsense for you, much like other similar products, only this one’s free, according to the Boy Genius Report.
The software will find available connections, whether it’s Wi-Fi with WEP, WPA1 and WPA2 support, LAN, ADSL and even WiMAX, connect and configure your security, printer, VPN and other applicable settings on the fly, and then store the new connection profile for a near-instant reconnect if and when you return to the location. It’s more or less a set-it-and-forget-it type situation, which will be very welcome to Windows users plagued with this inconvenience.
Since the software will remember certain peripherals plugged in and active on the various networks you connect to, it makes it effortless when you travel between home and work, for example, and don’t want to bother with changing printer settings, network drives, and so on every time you’re on the move. Another great feature, be it a simple one, is the fact that the software will recognize the fastest and most reliable connection at any given time, and switch on the fly. If the particular Wi-Fi network you’re connected to becomes bogged down, and the software senses a faster network connection elsewhere, it will connect automatically without intervention or disruption to the user.
The software will also go as far as to save and remember your different email account settings on different networks, so you don’t even need to bother switching those settings over as well.
As a fairly constant traveler, I’m faced with this problem time and time again. I’d be more than welcome to some help in the area. Count me in! The software is available as a free download from the Avanquest website.
