Windows 7 bares it all at D6 conference

By Triston McIntyre

Windows 7 bares it all at D6 conferenceWith a rather glum 2010 release projection already established by Microsoft, it seemed as though there was no hope of seeing anything significant of the next Microsoft Windows OS for quite a while. However, word on the web is that Windows 7 might be making a bold step out of the closet at the D6 conference, which should leave quite a few happily shocked onlookers in its wake.

According to Istartedsomething.com, there is more than a decent chance that Microsoft will display development on its new and shiny operating system Microsoft Windows 7, which is being developed to capitalize on Vista’s shortcomings as well as increase the overall performance and user-friendliness of the Vista replacement. What better place than D6?

After all, the All Things Digital conference is generally considered to be one of the largest platforms for marketing and displaying new products or products in development. It is also the conference at which Bill Gates and Steve Jobs had their much-anticipated group-interview, courtesy of hosts Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher.

Then I began considering if there was actually a time better suited to debuting the new OS that everyone is waiting for; being realistic, Bill Gates’ Microsoft isn’t the same as Steve Jobs’ Apple. Apple can hold keynotes and press conferences whenever it likes, but Microsoft isn’t the show pony nowadays.

Hopefully that will turn out well for all of us excited about seeing something from the new OS. We aren’t holding our collective breath.
