Windows XP SP3 invades torrent channels for those not keen on Vista SP1

Windows XP SP3 invades torrent channels for those not keen on Vista SP1Everyone following the power struggle between the tried and true older sibling in the Windows family, XP, and the younger, brasher, very-out-of-shape-from-too-many-cherry Pop-Tarts sibling, Vista, knows that Windows XP SP3 is offering a strong and fast update to a familiar OS for those who aren’t feeling Vista’s SP1.  If, for whatever reason, you can’t wait until Microsoft debuts the service pack itself, you might be happy to find out there’s a working torrent floating around of SP3 for your pirating pleasure.

According to Engadget, you should be able to find working versions of the patch that don’t get all hung up on the WGA security on whatever popular torrent indexer you use; as we at Blorge can’t endorse piracy, those of you dying to find it will have to do it the old fashioned way:  look for yourselves.

Of course, with all the woes people who have installed (or at least attempted valiantly) Vista SP1, it might very well be in your best interests to simply wait until Microsoft releases the patch to consumers on the 29th of April.  That way, if anything goes wrong, you won’t have to sit through hours of customer support asking you if your computer is plugged in only to find out they have no idea how to deal with your dodgy torrented patch.

To each his or her own.  Patience is a virtue, but sometimes you just gotta have it!

While piracy is wrong, there should be a much bigger concern with getting “built in” malware, trojans and “backdoors” in these “free versions” of XP or any Windows product.

Ironically MSFT is possibly helping fuel the torrents of XP with its supposed retiring of Windows XP on June 30 2008. People are firmly against Vista are seeking out XP, in all the wrong places.

A much better option is to buy a new computer with XP from sources such as Micro Center and Dell.

Another great option would be to give Linux a try, the new Ubuntu 8.04 is hot and has much to get excited about.
