Microsoft demotes executives in wake of Vista failure
By Jonathan Schlaffer
Vista wasn’t right from day one and Microsoft knew it but instead of admitting failure it has decided to blame its executive team for Vista’s failure by firing some or moving some on to mostly "administrative" positions. After being moved on, some decided just to leave the company outright.
According to ComputerWorld several top executives at Microsoft have either been fired or moved into positions at the company that sound important but are really nothing more than a desk job that comes with a title. Will Poole is one such example.
Poole was responsible for client versions of Windows and is a 12-year veteran at Microsoft. After Vista’s failure, Poole was made head of the "Unlimited Potential Group." Never heard of it? That’s okay because no one else at Microsoft has either.
As the author puts it,
"There’s clearly some scapegoating going on. These Microsoft employees, on their own, weren’t the cause of Vista woes. The blame lies at the top, and at a culture that some say has gone from lean and mean to slow and bloated."
Well, Microsoft, instead of blaming good people for trying to do the best they can with a horrible product, how about making a good product that can be placed in an excellent light in the eyes of consumers. Because right now Vista looks like the rotten essence that rotten eggs give off. Nope, it’s not even good enough to be the rotten food itself.

all they needed to do was listen to us beta testers and vista would have been a lot better. they gave us list view back and that was it.
they would rather listen to some “unusabilty” study than the people who have been beta testing windows for 15 years. serves them right.
