Only 8% of corporate users satisfied with Vista

Monday, March 31st, 2008

not There are already enough individual users unhappy with Vista but so is the corporate world.  It’s now looking like that Windows XP may have been Microsoft’s final good push before completely going down the tubes; so to speak.  More corporate users are happy with Mac OSX Leopard than they are with Vista.

Vindictive fingers now point at Nvidia in Vista-capable lawsuitI think we can all agree at this point in time that Microsoft is sitting not-so-pretty in a pot of boiling water over the whole “Vista-capable” debacle.  Though the bundle of corporate emails originally seemed to indicate that Intel was the bully responsible for the early release of Vista and the ensuing disaster of a marketing strategy, continued research has shown that graphical giant Nvidia has had the most adverse affect on Vista operating systems thus far.

Danger! Vista SP1 doesn’t like multiple-OS usersThe list of users who are experiencing more than a little difficulty with the new Service Pack 1 grows longer every day; it seems more and more users who boot multiple operating systems are experiencing grief as well.  Before installing Vista Service Pack 1, be sure to check out the boot systems you’re currently using if you use Windows Vista Enterprise or Vista Ultimate, otherwise your PC might end up the victim of a faulty SP1 install.

courtvsms Jim Allchin, the former co-president of Microsoft’s Platforms and Service division has been subpoenaed in the Vista Capable class action lawsuit.  For those of you that haven’t been following the case, back in 2006 Microsoft came up with the idea that computers would be rated with two-tiers of performance when upgrading to Vista.  Those that could only run the most basic features would be “Vista Capable” and those that could handle all the features would be “Premium Ready.”

Vista SP1 toolkit aids woes of business-scale installs

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Vista SP1 toolkit aids woes of business-scale installsMany Vista users are justifiably a bit skittish when talk drifts to service pack 1, recently released by Microsoft; though home installations aren’t particularly difficult (though they could make you a nervous nelly), many larger companies will doubtless spend a good chunk of cash on IT help to ease the transition.  Microsoft has an answer for all those businesses who are looking for something a bit more streamlined, and it is a toolkit that should expedite the process quite nicely.

Microsoft plans to make Windows 7 more modular than Vista

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Microsoft plans to make Windows 7 more modular than Vista Windows Vista was hardly the resounding success Microsoft wanted it to be, if anything it was a dismal failure.  Now it wants to make Windows 7 more modular than Vista.  Meaning that all you get with the default version of Windows 7 is the core kernel and basic GUI (graphical user interface).  This may only serve to confound consumers even more than they already are.

Negative Vista "reviews" in Apple ads not actually reviews

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

Negative Vista "reviews" in Apple ads not actually reviews It’s easier to make fun of Vista than it is to say something good about it.  The “final” version of Vista had problems, SP1 has problems and they don’t seem to be going away with any speed.  But, Apple should be more careful in the “reviews” it picks to use in its ads.
