Microsoft releases Vista SP1 guide for IT departments
By Jonathan Schlaffer
Vista may not be the success Microsoft wanted it to be, with almost all the reviews being negative but that won’t stop Vista from reaching the masses since every new PC sold comes with it.
To that end, Microsoft thinks it’s time for IT departments across the globe to begin preparations to roll out Vista and has released several documents geared toward such an event.
The documents include a deployment guide, includes hotfixes and a 17 page report on "notable changes" most of which are focused on improving reliability, compatibility and performance of the operating system.
That stands to reason since most reviewers were unable to find any sizeable improvement speed wise in Vista SP1 when compared to a vanilla installation of Vista.
Many businesses are still considering just skipping Vista entirely and waiting for Windows 7. Considering the costs involved, I can certainly understand those decisions but for a home user in need of a new computer (and peripherals), there’s no reason to skip Vista.
