Free Vista Sunday, burn CDs and DVDs with CDBurnerXP
Windows Vista doesn’t come preloaded with a particularly useful CD/DVD burning application. Of course the industry standard is Nero, it is the best, bar none but some of you may not need all of the features of Nero and a good number of those features can be found in CDBurnerXP.
Don’t get me wrong, Nero is great at doing things automatically and for you, tell it what you want done and it does it but if you can get by with doing things a little bit more manually then CDBurnerXP just may fit the bill.
The publisher claims it can burn CDs, DVDs, ISO files (including bootable media) and even HD-DVD and Blu-Ray discs though I don’t know how well that would work.
The key list of features include:
burn all kinds of discs
audio-CDs with or without gaps between tracks
burn and create ISO files
data verification after burning process
create bootable discs
multi-language interface
bin/nrg ? ISO converter, simple cover printing and much more!
As well as being compatible with Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Server and Vista. CDBurnerXP is currently in version 4.0 and while it is free for personal use, donations are accepted through PayPal.
However, it does not handle burning DVD movies well, if at all, this process completely failed on me and most DVD ripping utilities rely on having Nero installed. That is probably the one thing this utility is not good for. It does excel at burning DVD data backups, CD data, audio, et al and bootable media.

I rather confuse with it’s UI. I don’t like Nero much more and keep looking for alternative one.

I’d tend to agree with you there but the way Nero can integrate with other third party applications (some of them free) it’s been my experience I almost never have to visit the Nero application itself because the third party apps handle most of what I do automatically. Think of those as a go-between to Nero.
