UK Windows Vista users to utilize extenders for streaming data to TVHome users of Microsoft’s Windows Vista in UK will soon be able to stream Windows Media Center (WMC) content from their PCs to their TVs.

Specifically, the WMC extenders enable punters to use their TV sets to play movies, TV shows, photos, music, and Internet videos that are stored on their computers.

It also allows you to use it as a personal video recorder (PVR), as it will record all your TV onto your computer’s hard drive, Shiny Media writes.

Using a LinkSys box and a standard Ethernet connection, you’ll be able to get up to six streams of data, although your wireless network can only support four streams. The extenders can accept different formats such as XviD, Avi and DivX.

There are two boxes to choose from. The basic media extender model DMA 2100, which features just the streamer, is price at £199 and the higher model with a built-in DVD player DMA 2200 is at £229.

These extenders are expected to reach the stores on December 3.
