For the second time in nearly a month, Vista users had another unexplained update download to their systems and, in some cases, cause the computer to reboot for no apparent reason.

DSG International, a consumer electronic retailer based in Europe and the parent company of Currys and PC World, warned that poor sales of Windows Vista and its related products have cost it £20 million in lost profits for the first-half.

Windows Vista activation cracks appear to be increasing in numbers. However, Microsoft is apparently being selective about which Vista activation cracks the company is going to address, as it has no intention of addressing every single crack.

If you’re just itching to get your hands on the Vista SP1 beta then you’ve come to the right place. A certain hack has been floating around that lets any installation of Vista download and install SP1 beta.

You might think it impossible for a computer with 2GB or 3GB of RAM to actually run out of memory but Vista can do just that when copying large numbers of files.

In a recent meeting between the Dutch Consumers’ Union (Consumentenbond) and Microsoft Netherlands, the consumer organization asked for free copies of Windows XP for members who were having problems with Vista. Microsoft, of course, refused.

There are success and horror stories behind Vista and the story of one mother falls somewhere in between. Steve Ballmer attended an IT conference in Florida where he learned how one mother did not enjoy her experience with Vista and he was left to defend the company’s products.

Companies considering the move to Windows Vista might have had trouble telling what will and won’t work with it. Microsoft has its own tool to assist home users but ScriptLogic is targeting corporate IT departments with a couple new tools, one of them free.
