Windows Vista sales declining
After almost a year since Windows Vista was released to businesses, its sales rate is gradually slowing down, according to Microsoft’s latest financial results.
The sales of Vista have fallen from 10 million per quarter back in July to 9.3 million for this latest quarter as the company has only managed to ship about 28 million copies of Vista.
Despite the fall, there’s no real sign showing that Windows Vista will become a dying operating system. In fact, Microsoft expects that migration from XP to Vista will become more widespread as more problem issues have been address.
While the Microsoft has experienced a decline in Vista sales, the company announced $US 13.6 Billion revenue for the first quarter of this financial year, which breaks down to $US 5.9 Billion net income and marks a 27% increase on the same period last year, IDM writes.
The increase was attributed to Xbox sales from the success of Halo 3 and strong software sales through Microsoft’s partners and distributors.
It seems like the next major sales uptake of Vista will be after the release of Vista SP1 next year.
