Free Vista Monday, tweak Vista with TweakVI

By Jonathan Schlaffer

Free Vista Monday, tweak Vista with TweakVI

Those of you running Vista are probably sitting around wondering what you can do to make it perform better or do things you wish had been included with the operating system.  Some of those things can be done with TweakVI.

There are three versions of TweakVI, a free “basic” edition, a premium edition for $35 and 12 month subscription or an ultimate edition for $50 and 12 month subscription.

The subscription period allows you to download program updates, access the subscriber area and download updates for any plugins you might have installed.

However, the basic edition will be enough for most home users.  It includes 13 plugins and can optimize your system, adjust CPU cache for optimal performance, optimize hard drive performance and several other system adjustments are included.

It can also show you your Windows and Office CD keys.  However, one of the most useful features I have found in it, is the ability to add “Shutdown,” “Standby,” and “Restart” shortcuts to your quicklaunch menu.

If you’re looking to get the desktop look I described a while ago, see the previous “free software” posts.
