Free Vista Sunday, hide unsightly desktop icons with Iconoid

By Jonathan Schlaffer

Free Vista Sunday, hide unsightly desktop icons with Iconoid What’s the point of having a beautiful desktop background only to be ruined by the presence of unsightly icons and disorganized folders?  Put up with it no more, a free program will hide those icons so you can enjoy the beauty of your new or existing background.

Iconoid is a utility that will hide your desktop icons and taskbar (if you so choose), it can be set to always hide, never hide or hide the icons by cursor position, you can set the time for how long the icons will be shown and be sure to select the “Start with Windows” and “Hide when started” options.

It is compatible with Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP and Vista.

While Iconoid is technically free to use, if you feel like donating a little something to the developers, they do appreciate it and have labeled Iconoid “sillyware” because if you like it you can donate “something silly.”

On a side note if you are at a loss for finding nice desktop backgrounds, your first stop should be Interfacelift.com but make sure to select an image that is the same resolution as your display.
