ScriptLogic releases Vista migration tool and application analyzer

By Jonathan Schlaffer

Windows XP SP3 includes some Vista featuresCompanies considering the move to Windows Vista might have had trouble telling what will and won’t work with it.  Microsoft has its own tool to assist home users but ScriptLogic is targeting corporate IT departments with a couple new tools, one of them free.

Desktop Authority 7.6 contains a Vista Migration package which will analyze the existing systems for any compatibility problems and display a report, however, the tool cannot correct those problems, that is left to the company to take action.

The other tool is a free MSI analyzer package that checks the installation files for an existing application and highlights areas where the new technology would be better to use with Vista.

The MSI analyzer can be used as a standalone application but it was designed to work in conjunction with Desktop Authority which enables the IT department to package existing applications into MSI files for deployment.

Businesses have been slow to adopt Vista but Microsoft is hoping that will change once Vista SP1 is rolled out.
