Vista Ultimate still missing "extras"

By Jonathan Schlaffer

WindowsVistaUltimate_web One of the perks of buying Vista Ultimate was supposed to be the ability to get extra features and services that users of lesser Vista editions would not be able to get.  “Ultimate Extra” add-ons were supposed to ship by the end of this summer, which has come and gone, Microsoft even missed its own self-imposed deadline leaving many wondering when or even if these features will be available.

On several occasions, Microsoft has apologized for not shipping the extras on-time or as planned but it still isn’t clear what the time frame will be and according to users there has been nothing new from the Extras department.

As was stated over on ComputerWorld, “it proves this team [at Microsoft] is incapable [of] delivering anything and should never be trusted again.”

So far Extras has provided next to nothing in useful features or add-ons but some point out that Extras are just extras and should not have been the deciding factor for purchasing that version of Vista but for some users, it was and they are angry, annoyed and disappointed or all the above.

Microsoft is simply saying so far that Extras won’t ship until they meet “the high quality bar required by our enthusiastic customers.”  Would that be the same quality bar that was used to determine that Vista was ready to be shipped?
