Vista pirates to suffer consequences of "black screen"

By Jonathan Schlaffer

Vista pirates to suffer consequences of "black screen" Users of pirated copies of Vista can now expect something entirely new from Redmond.  Microsoft has activated a function which is an extension of “reduced functionality mode” but is just every so slightly worse.

According to ComputerWorld, if an installation of Vista is identified as being non-genuine then this mode will activate.  After this, the computer becomes pretty much useless as the screen will go blank after one hour of browsing, access to the task bar, desktop and start menu will be denied but pirates will always find a way around things like this.

Microsoft’s ad campaign for this new features seems to be aimed at resellers with lines such as “Don’t let this happen to your customers” and “Don’t risk it!”  Remember folks, “make sure you are always getting a genuine Windows Vista installation.”  Because there’s nothing better than Genuine Microsoft Software or should I say “worse?”

I mean, after all, Microsoft is only doing this for our own good, right?  RIGHT??  If only Microsoft’s WGA system was fool proof.

Black screen of death - reduced mode - This will be probably cracked just as quick as the Windows activation process :-)
