A real 3D desktop for Windows Vista and XP

A real 3D desktop for Windows Vista and XP People are always looking for a way to spruce up their desktop, be it a home computer or work computer, who wants to look at bland blue or gray backgrounds all day, not me.  If your monitor is big enough then you can have applications open and still see the desktop so it pays to have something that looks good.  What could be better than a 3D environment where you can place things anywhere you want?  Nothing.

Real Desktop does just that.  It replaces the desktop with a 3D desktop where you can drag just about anything, plop it where you want, rotate it, drag it around and shove all those useless files into one corner.  Make sure to keep the trash bin handy for all those emails from your boss.

There is a catch though, there always is with the cool things.  The program is not free and the 1 hour trial time is almost an insult, whatever happened to 30 day trials?

It’s still a cool program and if you like the 1 hour trial then the full version will cost you €17.95 (for the rest of the world that’s $24.60).  Not bad.  The downside of the program is that it is resource heavy, it will use about 35MB to 50MB of memory at any given time and may take more than its fair share of the processor but that won’t matter on a sufficiently equipped system.
