Latest version of iTunes fully Vista compatible

By Jonathan Schlaffer

Latest version of iTunes fully Vista compatible Those of you who have upgraded to Vista and that rely on your iPod/iTunes have been disappointed because up until this point, iTunes and the iPod were pretty buggy under Vista due to one or the other and most times iTunes was the culprit.  All the issues are now extinct because Apple has released a new version of iTunes.

In fact the new version of iTunes is so advanced that your ancient rotting Windows 2000 box will no longer run it.  That’s right, iTunes is now only compatible with Windows XP or Vista and if you want full functionality you’ll have to be running Windows XP SP2 or Vista.  It’s about time people were forced to upgrade.

There isn’t much in the way of feature additions except support for the forthcoming iTunes WiFi store for both the iPhone and iPod Touch.  And yes, in order to use the iPod Touch you will need iTunes 7.4.  Also, support under Vista is much improved, the UI no longer crashes and the program no longer insists on crashing every couple uses.

I can’t say if the stuttering problem is still there or not because I have yet to be able to replicate it to any great effect.

Actually 7.4 still crashes vista 64 bit editions - especially dealing with photos.

Oh yeah, I and lots of other folks still cannot successfully get iTunes to run under Vista - even with the latest version (7.43). It either crashes (Vista says the program has stopped running) or it totally locks up Vista. Some have had success by uninstalling iTunes and Quicktime, reinstall iTunes and then installing the standalone Quicktime - but alas it does not work for me (and a number of others).
