New Windows Live Suite doesn’t support 64-bit Vista
I’d be the first to admit that there aren’t a whole lot of people using a 64-bit operating system but those that do see some speed increases in the system. What should never be expected is for a company to release a product and then not support it on one of their own operating systems but that’s exactly what happened.
There is some good stuff so let’s talk about that first. The new unified suite includes Live Writer, Live Messenger, Live Mail, Live Photo Gallery and Live OneCare Family Safety. All of this now features a unified installer which among other things lets you pick the features you want to install.
Of course, it supports Vista but what wasn’t said is that it does not support 64-bit installations of Vista. This is odd because most of these applications are now in Beta 2 and the Beta 1 applications appear to have been supported on 64-bit Vista.
That being said, the final version (with the exception of Family Safety) will support 64-bit Vista. Not building this support in Beta 2 seems backwards to me but then look at the company I’m talking about.

There’s a workaround that works just fine.

..and yet, it works just fine on 64bit Vista.
You may wish to rescind your comments, I’ve installed it happily with full functionality across about 147 Vista 64 installs this year.
