New beta versions of Vista SP1 build leak out
New beta versions of Vista SP1 labelled “Vista updates installer 32bit-Pre-sp1-Aug25th-2007″ and “Vista 64bit (x64)Updates installer sp1 preview August 24th 2007″ have leaked onto BitTorrent sites, according to Channel Insider.
Both versions, tagged as “The Vista Performance, Compatibility and Reliability Packâ€, were reportedly released by Microsoft to a few selected testers last week. The updates also include recent versions of Adobe Flash Player and Sun Java.
The new leaked versions offered in compression file size of about 200 MB expanded into installation programs of about 684 Mb in .exe file format, and can be used to update existing Vista installations.
A blogger named Odd-Magne Kristoffersen claims to have installed another new, but larger beta version of Vista SP1 and has posted a series of screenshots.
“Unpacked this Service Pack is enormous, just over 1,7GB. The installation process involves no less than 3 restarts before it’s done,†Kristoffersen said.
Earlier this month, the first “for testing” beta Vista SP1, which leaked also to BitTorrent peer-to-peer file-sharing networks was approximately 3.2 GB in size and came as an .iso file format. This version, however, could only be used to install a full version of Windows Vista.
With all these releases, it appears that Microsoft has not been successful in keeping the “for testing” releases to its selected testers only. However, all these developments mean one thing – the final beta for Vista SP1 is just around the corner.
