By Ruben Francia
Microsoft has officially released two patches for Windows Vista with the aim of improving performance, compatibility and reliability. The two patches were leaked as beta packages few days ago when they were only available as Pre-Betas to testers only.
The Windows6.0-KB938979-x86.msu patch is a performance update and is about 10Mb. Microsoft says that by applying this patch, user can achieve better performance and responsiveness in various scenarios such as when exiting the Photos screen saver, estimating time remaining during copying or moving a large file, and displaying the logon screen from hibernation.
The Windows6.0-KB938194-x86.msu is a reliability update and is about 2Mb. By applying this patch, users can achieve better reliability and hardware compatibility in situations such as when upgrading the video driver, playing video games or performing desktop operations, and when external display device is turned off from the running computer.
Both patches are available for download from the Microsoft knowledge base to customers running genuine Microsoft Windows in 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Vista.
