Business loosing interest in Windows

By Ruben Francia

Business loosing interest in WindowsWhile Microsoft maintains it has shipped 60 million copies of Windows Vista, a survey among 250 CIOs, IT managers and network administrators across Europe, Asia Pacific and the US shows business interest in Vista is decreasing.

“Fewer businesses are now planning to move to Windows Vista than seven months ago, according to a survey by patch management vendor PatchLink Corp., while more said they will either stick with the Windows they have, or turn to Linux or Mac OS X,” Computerworld reports.

In the latest survey on Vista adoption, PatchLink noted that about 87% of the respondents planned to stay with their existing version of Windows, in contrast with a similar survey publish by another vendor in December 2006 which said that about 53% planned to keep their existing Windows.

The recent survey also shows that fewer companies planned to roll over to Vista by November 1 than in the December poll.

The declining interest of business in Vista adoption maybe attributed to the change in perception of Vista’s security capability. Prior to the release of Vista 50% of the CIOs, IT managers viewed Vista to be more secure than Windows XP, but in the recent poll only 15% thought it was more secure than XP.

The PatchLink survey also shows zero-day vulnerabilities were considered the top security concern by 54% of IT professionals, followed by Hackers and malware/spyware, with 35% and 34%, respectively.

Yet another person who cannot spell words properly…

The correct spelling is “losing”, not “loosing”. if you don’t believe me, look it up in a dictionary.

It amazes me that people supposedly ultra-savvy with info technology are seemingly incapable of using a simple tool such as a spell checker.

For the record, the act of “loosing” is to make something less tight.

      I expect better next time.
