The falling prices of DRAM chips and the released of Vista operating system which requires a minimum of 512MB of system memory for Home Basic and 1GB for premium versions have increased the market demand for DRAM.

Many people would think it would be advantageous for Dell to simply promote Vista as much as it can but it is taking a step back and telling businesses to consider “holding off†on upgrading to Vista immediately.

The 2008 Olympics are to be held in the capital city of China and Microsoft has partnered with Lenovo to provide some of the 15,000 computers to be used at the 2008 Olympics. Products from other companies will be used but Microsoft has set up a test lab with Lenovo.

Google remains undaunted in its of pursuit of Microsoft over Vista desktop search. Despite its setback last week when a federal judge pronounced that Google has no legal standing in a 2001 anti-trust agreement, Google has filed another “friend of the court†brief in a US District Court.

Those who purchased Windows Vista Ultimate were promised a number of extras and add-ons which are still missing from Microsoft’s download section. To date a total of four add-ons for Vista ultimate have been released, one for bitlocker drive encryption and three games so of those on-offer there isn’t much there.

A lawsuit filed against Microsoft for the alleged deceptive marketing practices by letting PC makers promotes computers as “Windows Vista Capable†despite the machines were not capable of running the “signature†features of Windows Vista will go to trial Oct. 28, 2008, a federal judge in Seattle decided last week.

Microsoft wants every PC out there running Vista, as soon as possible. That doesn’t mean every PC will run Vista and that doesn’t mean every user should move over to Vista. In a bid to boost the Windows Vista user base in “emerging markets”, Microsoft is backing the IQ PC, a $500 computer system targeting students in India. The IQ comes with the most basic version of the Windows Vista operating system, an Office suite and applications to help the students practice English and prepare for exams.

Vista Ultimate Edition was supposed to be “ultimate” and for the most part, it is. But, some features in Ultimate ship “broken” and require some Ultimate-only plugins to become fully functional. Microsoft was supposed to provide additional Vista Ultimate only software which it has not done yet with users of Vista Ultimate wondering what happened.
