Microsoft has squashed rumors that a beta of SP1 for Vista would ship this month. The company says that SP1 for Vista will be released at some point during this year in beta form but when that will be remains to be revealed.

The interweb is a great place to find all kinds of information, including reports that it is easy for any user to crash Windows Vista simply by holding down the Windows key + E for 10 to 20 seconds. The keyboard shortcut Windows key + E opens Explorer windows but when held down causes Vista to go insane but it does not crash.

Rumors have been floating around all week that Microsoft would release a beta of SP1 this week. It’s still not clear if it will be released to the general public or just to a few select testers but “sources” close to Microsoft say that the release could happen any time now.

It’s now the middle of the week of July 16, 2007 and there is no more of a sign for Vista SP1 beta showing up than there was when the week began. Microsoft has been tight lipped about Vista SP1 beta but there are those of us with a few nagging problems on Vista that SP1 (even the beta) might be able to fix.

Microsoft can’t seem to do anything on time and Longhorn Sever, now called Windows Server 2008 will not be officially launched until next year. It was previously believed that it would officially launch by the end of this year.

Whether or not you run Vista Aero Glass on your system depends on if you hardware is actually capable of running it smoothly and on personal preference. It mostly comes down to personal preference.

If certain sources are to be believed then Microsoft will ship Vista SP1 beta tomorrow, July 16, 2007. But, as of right now it could be called into question exactly what is going to happen with Vista SP1.

Microsoft will only admit that they are working on the next version of Windows but what features it will include or future plans have not been revealed. It was hard enough to get Microsoft to admit they were working on SP1 for Vista; it’s probably going to be harder to get anything out of the company regarding the next version of Windows.

Microsoft has its own all-in-one security suite that is available for both Windows Vista and XP. OneCare was last updated in January to version 1.5. OneCare 2.0 Beta is now available for free download from Windows Live Betas. Current users of OneCare will be updated to version 2.0 when it is released in its final version.

Creative Labs has released the Creative Alchemy Audigy Edition software package for users of its Sound Blaster Audigy sound cards on Windows Vista. The software allows Vista users to take advantage of hardware-accelerated DirectSound3D and EAX audio. But there’s a catch.
