Will Vista SP1 beta ship this week?
If certain sources are to be believed then Microsoft will ship Vista SP1 beta tomorrow, July 16, 2007. But, as of right now it could be called into question exactly what is going to happen with Vista SP1.
Those of you that remember recent history will know that Intel made claims for Microsoft that SP1 would be available in the October – November time frame but Microsoft vehemently denied those claims and every rumor to come after.
At this point Microsoft would even go so far as to deny that Vista SP1 even existed. Then, just last week said that Vista SP1 beta would be available mid-July which could be as early as tomorrow. If this is the case, it is expected that a final version of Vista SP1 will be available by November.
If your installation of Vista is functioning perfectly or at least to your satisfaction then avoid testing SP1 beta. If you are one of those people that have had slow shut down or file copying problems on Vista then maybe you might want to test Vista SP1 beta to see if it will solve some of those problems but the average user should stay away.
I would not install SP1 beta unless you are a fairly technically savvy person and if you are, install it on your own systems but no one else’s unless you want to be responsible for any problems that might occur.
If Vista SP1 beta becomes available tomorrow, it will probably be late afternoon and when or if it does, expect downloads to slow to a crawl.
