What is to come after Vista?

By Jonathan Schlaffer

What is to come after Vista? Microsoft will only admit that they are working on the next version of Windows but what features it will include or future plans have not been revealed. It was hard enough to get Microsoft to admit they were working on SP1 for Vista; it’s probably going to be harder to get anything out of the company regarding the next version of Windows.

Microsoft said in a statement, “We are not giving official guidance to the public yet about the next version of Windows, other than that we’re working on it. When we are ready, we will provide updates.”

The company is willing to go to extreme circumstances to squash rumors or even discussions regarding the next version of Windows. It will not tolerate even the most innocent discussions.

According to ComputerWord, users discussing new features or most wanted features have been silenced by Microsoft, threads on its own forums have been locked, posts deleted or posts have been deleted by the poster at the “request” of Microsoft.

The focus for now is on Vista, Microsoft wants to sell it but as analysts have been saying all along, it’s not a matter of if you begin using Vista but when. Everyone uses Windows and everyone will use Vista at some point in their lives. Even the most devout Mac or Linux user has to use Windows at some point during their life, this fact cannot be denied.
