Starting yesterday, DivX Pro became free for both Windows and Mac. It will only be free for a limited time and I don’t know when it will expire, if it hasn’t already, it will very soon so grab your copy while you can.

Adobe has released the first version of its Acrobat software that is fully compatible with Microsoft’s Windows Vista and Office 2007 productivity suite.

Microsoft announced plans to issue six security bulletins for this month’s Path Tuesday. Of the scheduled fixes, four are considered critical, one is rated important and one is marked moderate. Two of the four critical security bulletins fix flaws either Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista or Windows Mail in Windows Vista.

Users of Windows mobile devices have been complaining that some have not been working correctly under Vista. The last version of Windows Mobile Device Center, version 6, had problems synching and updating files to Windows Mobile devices when used with Vista.

Microsoft wants nothing more than every company on the surface of this planet to use and deploy Vista. As we reported earlier things are looking up as Continental airlines may deploy up to 10,000 copies. To ease the Vista growing pains, Microsoft has released some new configuration and trial tools to allow companies to test drive features or even Vista itself without actually installing it.

Microsoft faces another legal challenge on its Windows Vista. It’s no longer about its Vista logo label system but the Vista trademark itself. A French television executive claims that Microsoft has breached his right to the trademark “Vistaâ€, which the software company uses for its latest operating system.

It’s true, Vista has not been accepted by many corporations or businesses but with Information Week reporting that Continental airlines is preparing to deploy "up to" 10,000 copies of Vista, things may be turning in favor of Microsoft and its newest operating system.

Memory chipmakers are bracing for tough quarter due to falling prices of DRAM chips, expanded factory output, and over forecasted Vista demand, with some manufacturers selling their chips below the cost of production cost.

Infoworld blog claimed to have received a copy of Microsoft certified letter to its OEM partners telling them as to what happens if they dare to ship a system with a “non-genuine†copy of Vista.

Dell has ever so quietly removed the option of getting two and four year warranties on its Ubuntu offerings as well as removing the option for the “Complete Care†package. These options remain on Vista and XP systems.

If you have been keeping up with the site you will now that I am no lover of Ubuntu or Vista for that matter, I simply accept Vista for my gaming needs for everything else, I use my brand new MacBook. Let’s try not to comment about a new Mac user writing about Vista because I still use Vista and I’ve basically used Microsoft Windows my entire life, DOS before that.

Users of Vista will be familiar with Windows Mail, the built-in email client that has compatibility and stability problems. The primary issues with Windows Mail is that it does not work with a number of free email services, one of them being Gmail, for me that was a big issue as Gmail is my primary email service.
