Mysterious images on Vista DVDs look back at you

By Jonathan Schlaffer

Mysterious images on Vista DVDs look back at you In order to curb piracy, Microsoft embedded some very tiny holograms on every single Vista DVD sold. Not that you would be able to see them because they are so small, it’s nearly impossible with the naked eye.

The images in question are of three men but you’d never notice because the images are only 1mm in size. At this point, I don’t really care who found them, I don’t care why, all I know is that it was a glorious waste of time but it makes for a good read, just don’t expect me to go to those lengths to find anything.

Many are pointing out the images could have been anything. A recent Halo 2 error comes to mind that was far less glamorous than we had hoped for. Alas, this time there is no conspiracy. The images are of the anti-piracy team at Microsoft.

In fact, those aren’t the only images, apparently there are more. Microsoft says this makes it hardware to pirate a Vista DVD and sell the illegal copies as the genuine article. Well, it might do some good, if you could actually see the image without an electron microscope.

Microsoft did not put names to the faces on the DVD but there are plenty of guesses, none of which are right.
