Steve Jobs compares Windows to Hell
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Steve Jobs compared Windows to hell. There is no reason for Steve Jobs to like Windows, in fact there is no real reason for anyone to like Windows. I’ve come to despise it with almost every fiber in my being, that won’t keep me from using a Windows based desktop but as far as laptops go, it’s a Mac from here on out.
The interview centered around iTunes and its Windows port. It seems that Steve Jobs is told all the time by people that iTunes is their favorite application on Windows. But let’s face it, the iTunes Windows port is a shade of the OSX version. The iTunes version is faced with crashes, new compatibility issues with the release of version 2.1 and the GUI seems to turn all black every once in a while.
I don’t know what’s going on there but I do know that iTunes 7.2 on Windows has a number of issues that need to be solved but probably never will be. Whereas iTunes 7.2 on a Mac is a pleasure to use. Windows just seems like its one car wreck after another.
I guess it’s true what he said a while back “Microsoft has no taste†and really has no idea what people are after in an operating system or music player for that matter. Apple got it right though, there is no doubt about that.
Everything I used my PC laptop for, I can use my MacBook for but without the crashing, fussing, explorer errors which means I get things done faster and ahead of time.
Don’t worry though, for those of you caught in the Windows rut, I will still be writing articles about Vista.

I’ve not suffered from this so called Windows instability for years (since switching to Windows NT way back when). It is certainly no less stable than my Mac. Not as pretty, perhaps, but certainly as stable and definitely no less productive. iTunes does indeed suck on Windows, but would you really expect Apple to pull out all the stops and create something top-notch on Windows? Anyway, there are better media players for Windows. Vista itself does a beautiful job of integrating media management into the shell; the line between Windows Media Player and Windows Explorer has almost been erased and I for one welcome that. Saved search folders containing music appearing as playlists in WMP – brilliant. Album art and (fully editable) tags appearing in Explorer – fantastic. Everything available at a touch of the Windows key and a quick search – marvellous. All seamlessly integrated; all working perfectly. What’s not to love? It’s much better than the bloaty piece of crap that is iTunes. The only reason so many people use it is because of the iPod lock-in.
I fully expect to see this level of integration and elegance in Leopard, if it ever gets released.

As one who supports both macs and pc on a daily basis, I can say honestly, that I see just as many issues with programs on the mac as I do in windows. I can’t even count the times I’ve had to trash corrupted preferences, or and try and reinstall programs in order to get odd behaviors to go away on OS X. I support art students so I deal with mostly Adobe products, so some of the blame could be pushed at Adobe but they are only working with what’s provided right?
All operating systems have the good and bad side. I like the underlying technology of OS X, it’s tools work pretty well most of the time, but I hate it’s interface. I prefer the windows interface… but I HATE vista so far. Things are overly complicated if you ask me, and Aero sucks. I hate how it drops down to ‘vista basic’ when it loads up certain programs like… any java applet. Stick with WinXP, you’re live will be much easier.
Just remember, no matter what OS you choose to run, they all have support resources, i.e they all break and need to be fixed.

For ONE, Who cares what steve jobs thinks. I don’t care at all what the mac fanboys desires in life. If you have an IQ of 45 like steve jobs I’m sure you wouldn’t like windows vista either. I’m SO Sick of incompetent people getting media attention for “Their Pesonal Experience with Vista” I’m a systems administrator and have mac’s and window’s platforms. The windows Vista is predominately better then any platform of the same hardware specifics. Thus my conclusion is, get educated, Vista is so far “The most advanced and Wildely support OS on the market”

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?! Windows DOES suck, it DOES crash all the time, it IS unreliable. Since all of you only know about Winblows and Mac O-SuX, search Linux, and you will find dozens of reliable, free, easy to use operating systems called Linux (i.e. Fedora and Ubuntu). Comparing Windows to OS X is a terrible comparison, considering that APPLE AND MICROSOFT USE THE SAME BUSINESS STRATEGIES! And by the way, Windows Vista DOES suck, and anyone who thinks otherwise can’t have an IQ greater than -20.

I have been running Vista for nearly a year without a SINGLE CRASH or compatibility issue. I don’t know what the fuss is about. If people would learn to operate their computers, people would understand why Vista is a superior product. I built my computer with quality parts. If you want to spend $299 at your local dirt mall for a pirated copy of Vista installed on a piece of crap computer, then you got what you paid for…but it’s your fault, not Microsoft’s. Go pay $1200 for a Mac or a PC and you will have a nice machine. Get one on special at CompUSA, refurbed, reinstalled and a great deal at $199…you deserve what you get.

Vista works fine for me. The only time Vista crashed on me in the year I’ve been using it, is when I installed iTunes 8.0. I have had no other problems. Listen Mac fanboys, if Microsoft is so bad, then why do they have over 80% of the market?

@SB,
“I have been running Vista for nearly a year without a SINGLE CRASH or compatibility issue.”
Wow, you must be a real I.T. guru – are people flocking to you for advice and help?
“I don’t know what the fuss is about.”
Oops, now you look like a total ignoramus.
“If people would learn to operate their computers, people would understand why Vista is a superior product.”
Spoken like a true astroturfer.
“I built my computer with quality parts.”
And then loaded bug-ridden virus-prone DRM-laden bloatware from Microsoft onto it. It’s too bad that your brain wasn’t built using “quality parts”.
“[...] you deserve what you get.”
You do indeed. Here we are in early 2009, and Microsoft have pretty well cut the good ship Vista adrift, and are busy talking up Windows 7 (AKA “Mojave”). How much did you pay for Vista? Having been left in the lurch by Microsoft, are you eager to pay all over again for their “new” operating system?

I hear all the time about how horrible and bug ridden is…and have only had minimum minor problems, and only very few at that. I am a website designer and have used PCs and Mac’s both for over 20years (I still have my original MAC…though I dont use it, and I own a brand new Quad 4 DualCore). My MAC has more problems than my PC with Vista. Just my $.02.
