Vista has been out for just under two months and reports of bugs issues and exploits are pouring in. Personally, I have only experienced one of these issues but if you are using Vista you should be aware of them.

Office 2007 is the next version of the ever popular and standard Microsoft Office Suite and is closely tied with the launch and availability of Vista. Improvements include a new user interface known as the “Ribbon†interface and some new file formats. The last versions were Office 2000, XP and 2003; I have mentioned those for reasons that will become clear later.

US Government Federal agencies have been ordered to implement a common security configuration setting for all Windows XP and Vista systems based on the standards developed by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Microsoft and several other organizations.

Here we go again, another way to use Vista without activating it or actually having a serial key is doing the rounds. Hot on the heals of the One click activation crack, is Microsoft’s very own SkipRearm workaround, which is described by Microsoft as a means to bypass its own activation system.

Like everyone else on the planet, the Federal Government is caught between keeping Windows XP or making the switch to Vista. It may not be that easy for them due to the very specialized software in use which is only compatible with Windows XP.

Many have criticized the “big brother†overtones present in Vista. From its DRM scheme to the activation system it was all complained about before the retail release. It was also said that it would only be a matter of time before Microsoft’s activation system was cracked and came crashing down, that day is at hand.

Microsoft would have you walk into a retail store and shell out upwards of $250 for a copy of Vista, the only copies worth owning that is. The full version of Home Premium will run $250, the Upgrade version of Ultimate will run $250 and the full version of Ultimate will run $400.

Vista is supposedly the most secure operating system to ever to come out of Redmond. Maybe it is, but that doesn’t mean any PC that has Vista installed should connect to any kind of network without anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewalls installed. It is not necessary to pay through the nose or give an arm and a leg for protection either.

While security features in Windows Vista will make it harder for malware coders to develop worms that target operating system vulnerabilities, Symantec is tipping that malware coders will turn their attention to other vulnerabilities, like Vista’s new Windows SideBar and gadgets.
