Microsoft Versus the Experts on Vista Activation Workaround
It’s becoming a he said, she said game with Microsoft. We have talked about both a One Click Activation Crack and the Vista Workaround which would enable to use Vista without ever purchasing a license key.
The independent experts are saying that it does work; Microsoft is saying that it doesn’t work. More specifically they are saying it doesn’t bypass the WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage) system which is present in both XP and Vista to prevent this very thing.
There isn’t a consensus on exactly how many times the Vista Workaround can be used, what is certain is that it can be run at least three times on Business and Ultimate Editions of Vista. It seems this feature has been removed from versions of Home Premium as of March 2007. This is probably because the SkipRearm and Sysprep features are needed more by System Administrators than it is by home users. Makes sense if you ask me.
SkipRearm paired with another command (which we will not list here) can suspend Vista activation for up to 8 months. This does not work on all editions of Vista, as stated above.
SkipRearm is not documented well, not even by Microsoft so it is fair to assume there will be more news on this feature and we will post it as soon as it becomes available. Microsoft was not available for comment on any of this which is not unexpected.
And please, remember that SkipRearm and it’s subsequent command require editing the Registry, this process is not for the weak of heart in the best of times and we do not reccomend undertaking any of these procedures. It is less time consuming, not to mention safer and legal to just buy a retail or OEM copy of Vista with a legitimate license and be done with it.
