Microsoft workaround allows indefinite Vista use without a Serial Key or Crack

Here we go again, another way to use Vista without activating it or actually having a serial key is doing the rounds. Hot on the heals of the One click activation crack, is Microsoft’s very own SkipRearm workaround, which is described by Microsoft as a means to bypass its own activation system.
Technically SkipRearm is not a hack, since it was described by Microsoft in a TechNet paper for situations where you have to run sysprep more than three times. Though why you would need to do so is beyond me.
SkipRearm requires the user to edit the registry; something that is not recommended for the faint of heart at the best of times. If undertaken, the procedure will reset Vista’s activation timer and give you another 30 days to activate Vista.
Apparently, this can be done for an unlimited number of times and has been used as many as twelve times on a single Vista install. It appears that SkipRearm no longer works on copies of Vista Home Premium, however, it works to varying degrees in other versions of Vista.
When it comes down to it, Microsoft’s activation system is proving more problematic for legitimate users than it is for the pirates. It doesn’t make sense for Microsoft to impose all these rules and regulations on the consumer when they themselves have built-in a way to bypass their activation system in Vista. C’est la vie.
While this is not a crack per se, we would still not recommend you use this, even if you own a legititmate copy of Vista. As with all things involving the registry, registry edits and system level changes it could lead to system problems, crashes, instabilities and other errors.
And please, if you’re tempted to use this technique as a means to avoid paying for a legitimate copy of Vista, don’t. It is much simpler, safer, not to mention legal, just to go out and buy the real thing.
